Our SASUF Success Stories
Research and Innovation Weeks
The three Research & Innovation Weeks in South Africa – Sweden University Forum (SASUF) have brought together more than 3000 researchers, teachers, students, university leaders and other stakeholders from Sweden and South Africa in workshops, events and seminars. The first two weeks where held in South Africa (2018 & 2019) and the third week was scheduled to be arranged in Sweden during 2020.
Collaboration Projects
Researchers and teachers that met during the previous Research & Innovation Weeks have been able to apply for a collaboration grant to start their collaboration. The most promising ideas have been awarded, and 70 collaboration projects with almost 300 researchers from both countries have been funded. Due to disruptions from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of these projects will finish their activities during 2021.
SASUF Goes Digital
SASUF Goes Digital is the third Research and Innovation Week, which originally was planned to take place in Sweden. However, the Covid-19 pandemic made this impossible and the week was rearranged in a digital format.
Events by the Student Network
The SASUF Student Network connects student representatives from the SASUF Partner Universities. Since the start, the network has hosted several events and activities.
Evaluation of SASUF 2018-2020.
The initial project, the SASUF collaboration that was initiated in 2018 and ended 2020, is one of our main success stories since it is what this whole second phase, SASUF 2030, is built upon. We are very pleased to share the full document of the evaluation of the project, which can give deeper understanding and knowledge in how we will proceed in this second phase of collaboration.
Student Essay Contest 2022
The Essay Contest was jointly hosted by the Faculty of Humanities (via the Department of Politics and International Relations) at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), the Embassy of Sweden in Pretoria and the South Africa-Sweden University Forum (SASUF). The winners were announced during the Closing Ceremony of SASUF Goes Digital 2022.
